Activit's ToolkitCommunities and citizens are beginning to see the impact of development pressures on their farmland and natural areas and want to do something about it. 

There are a number of options to help solve dilemma of growth without sacrificing preservation of the very features that make communities distinctive. Each community can select tools that will best suit its unique needs. 

The Land Conservation Partnership can be a resource for more information.  We provide assistance as individual communities examine the toolbox and can refer inquiries to other communities that have successfully applied these tools.

The Big-Box Tool-kit: A Guide to Sustaining Communities is complete! With chapters on zoning, annexation, public records, open meetings, big-box ordinances, conditional use permit hearings, and stormwater regulation, the Tool-kit offers a comprehensive look at the big-box siting process and promotes public involvement from start to finish. Additionally, the Tool-kit identifies legal and practical arguments that can be used by residents to promote planned growth and prevent big-box sprawl.
