Goals and Objectives

Goals

  • To preserve, protect and enhance the County's scenic beauty and natural areas

  • To preserve land for farm use and to minimize the impact of non-farming development on prime farmland

  • To develop flexible preservation strategies to meet the needs of landowners and to maximize funding opportunities

  • To promote public awareness of the connection between wise land use and the continued health, prosperity and welfare of the citizens of Washington County

Objectives

Partnership objectives are to mobilize citizens of Washington County to:

  • Identify what farmland and natural areas are important to them

  • Identify what preservation methods and tools should be used to protect farmland and natural areas

  • Recommend how local governments and land owners can protect important farmland and natural areas
